@ What Do Stars Tell Us about Life@
I will tell you about my experience in an overnight activity in this entry. Star Gazers Society of UP High Cebu conducted an activity for the members to be able to gaze the stars. They conducted an overnight activity. They called it the “Moon Watch”. But at that time, we were not only focusing the moon, but also the stars.
It was pretty fun because we put our mats on the ground and not in the classrooms. Of course, how can you star gaze if you are inside a room, right? On the center of the grounds, there you can find us all lying down, looking at the stars. As we are looking the stars using just our naked eye, we found different constellations. There are times also that we some binoculars and telescopes. We were able to see the craters of the moon. But the overnight was not just stargazing. We also have a talk from the famous Cebuano astronomer, Mr. Christopher Go. He talked about his latest discovery, the Red Spot of the Jupiter.
Before we go to the different fields of my experience, by the way, what do the stars tell us about life? Some may say that stars are really related to us especially when they believe in different horoscopes and syzygy, right? Well, sometimes, when I read horoscopes from the newspapers, it is the right one or should I say it all happened. According to some people, the positions of the stars do have relationship to our daily lives. Well, it is only up to you if you will believe those. For me, only God knows what will happen to the past, present and of course the future. No one can ever foretell His plans. Maybe those horoscopes or syzygy is just for fun. Some use it as their source of living. I am not discouraging you to read horoscopes but I am just telling what is in my mind.
Okay, since we are already talking about stars, I will now tell you about my experience in the latest stargazing. At first, we thought that it will really rain, because we have not seen any star. But, later, the skies became clearer and the stars are already visible. There we are already looking for different constellations, we also use a telescope not to look for the stars but instead to look at the craters of the moon. The night’s activity was not all like that. We also had a talk by Christopher Go and we also did some film showing. They showed Shutter and Princess Hours. But for me, I did not watch because I find it so boring. I just stayed where our mats are located and use my cellular phone and text. Of course I also look at the sky while texting. It was pretty fun. But it was not that really fun to the extent that no one will get sleepy throughout the night because of the fun. But unfortunately, the last overnights conducted were merrier than that time. I think that was the dreariest one. But it is just okay, as long as we have experienced another overnight. An overnight spent with my friends, teachers, moon and of course the Stars…
